I don't see why I need a popup to tell me the beta will expire in seven months, the command-line notice would suffice, and it inevitably results in Rhino seeming to hang on opening because it's hidden behind something on my desktop.

Ditto for Neon, I didn't even know it had one until Rhino was refusing to open until I cleared off my desktop on a hunch.

The only time it's appropriate to use an interrupting popup message like that is to tell the user their printer is on fire!

My personal fave is the "server threw an exception" popup. Usually takes about 3 minutes to realize its there plus having to shut down multiple extra sessions due to my repeated clicking on Rhino icon trying to open Rhino. Then it refuses to load Brazil so I have the pleasure to shut everything down and try again :-)

I second the motion.

You know - the reason we added this stuff is because there were so many complaints about people not realising the beta was going to expire - at all, most of the time.

I have heard of that problem, but for those who are actually actively participating in the beta process they're an irritant. Maybe there could be somewhere in the "splash" page for such notices.
