with a light in brazil, i can change the shadow style....

but if i use a brightness material, i can't figure out how to do this.

 

i'm trying to get a more defined shadow from this brightness material.

 

any help???

also... if anyone has any tips on how to get the materials to look better for a flourescent light.... that would be great.

Hi J.

Brightness materials don't have the shadow control you're after. For something like this you can use a real light object in addition to the object assigned with the brightness material. Then in object properties>light, you can adjust the shadow type and parameters for the real light. Here's an example I made using your file...

If you want a sharper shadow from an object with a brightness material, you need to make the object smaller...just like in real life.
