pixelated fragments in finished render?!

I got some weird fragments below my finihsed rendering somehow. do you recognize what could be the reason and how to get rid of it?

I used a brazil volumetric environment the first time! The presettings are high AA, default bounces, indirect illumination, skylight on, and quality slower and smoother.

The materials are glass and a kind of brushed aluminium for the plane.

Should I increase the bounces maybe or the cache somewhere ???

is this an unknown problem? can someone help?

They kinda need the file to even begin to guess, at first glance it looks like you hit ESC before those buckets were done rendering but I presume that's not it.

I don't see where the volumetric environment is going to do much in that shot, I'd probably start by not using it.

It's not a problem I've seen before.  If you could send me the 3dm file to andy@mcneel.com, I could take a look.

cool thank you both! File incoming! :)  ...

did you get it?

I already made something new and different but it would be cool to know if this problem can be solved!

I got it - but I'm having trouble figuring out what's going on.  This is really, really tricky stuff - sorry it's taking so long.
