This is probably known, but I'm getting issues with the new displacement producing strange effects (the grass in the foreground, the shoulder of the road shows it too but not well from that shot) due to something about the object meshes. The foreground grass surface is flat.

Very, very cool images!

Could you send me that model so I can be sure I'm looking at the same thing?

If there is another obj
ect inside object that has displacement added, shadows don't work as should.
Sure, here you go.
Thanks - we'll try to figure it out.
your grass-field was created in post production?
or,using brazil displacement feature?
it's a new improvement?
It's in the latest beta.

The issue isn't so noticeable at lower angles, so I'm lowering the camera and carrying on for now. I am noticing rendering out the animation that on moderately closeup grass, rendered at AA settings of 2-2, I'm getting frame-to-frame variations that are probably going to be noticeable as a not entirely desirable effect.

This seems to happen only with mesh geometry. The attached image has both bugs (shadows and mesh edges) at the same time. Displacement on the Brazil plane primitive seems to be working fine.
Jim, you could try using a brazil plane. If you have a sloping terrain you could try creating a heightfield map out of it and add it as displacement together with the grass (this workflow might be too much of a headache to be worth while).

Could we get that model (the white balls embedded in grass) - we're looking into this problem now.

Better?
