This is probably known, but I'm getting issues with the new displacement producing strange effects (the grass in the foreground, the shoulder of the road shows it too but not well from that shot) due to something about the object meshes. The foreground grass surface is flat.

Hi Just had a chance to get back at this, on my project it's still pretty messy...hmm after letting it run a few more minutes in this case it's worse.

This is what I get....

Ouch.  OK - if we can get the model - preferably of just the grass surface, that would be great.

On the way...along with a couple hundred megs of textures I can't easily purge....

There's no chance of a quick fix for this, eh? I got something to get the job done but would really like to improve it, wondering if I should just wait or start painstakingly laying out billboard grasses...

Sorry - this one is difficult.

OK - we've taken a long look at this, and we've made some serious improvements.  It's now close to perfect.  However, the key problem is that difference in the size of the geometry compared to the size of the displacement is very, very large, and this means that we're struggling to make the computation numerically stable.  I'm not sure we can get it much better than we have.

There will be a new Brazil in the next couple of days - let me know if that works for you.

So would just splitting it up into smaller surfaces help? Or are you talking about the displacement vs. the size of the whole scene?

Splitting it up into smaller surfaces would help, yes.

The new beta certainly looks much improved, it'll take a while to find out how much better it looks animated.
