Rather noob question here, but when I get a model from somewhere meant originally to be used with Max or Lightwave or what have you, and it comes with a "specular map," which of the innumerable specular-something slots in the Advanced Material does it go into, if any of them?

I would imagine it should be applied as the specular level...

I know this doesn't sound intuitive, but I think the supplied specular map can also be added to the reflectivity channel. I've used the specular map supplied with some Arroway textures in this manner and they appear fine.

That's not unintuitive at all, since "specular mapping" is about faking glossy reflections from light sources you can't actually see.
